Born to Run

I’ll admit this isn’t a super deep response, really the only thing I was going for was a picture that embodied that ‘long summer night’ feeling. My response was also based almost entirely off of these lyrics from the song Wings for Wheels:

It’s like the rushing touch, the dirty wings them highway angels wear

Well tonight we’re gonna find out how it feels

I’m gonna trade in your wings – for wheels”

The motorcycle isn’t mine, it’s my mom’s (and so is the leather jacket… and the pants… and the boots), but I do think that along with her encouraging words as the photographer, they helped me get into character and achieve a sort of brooding look, which I feel fits the album. I just really liked the idea of that endless summer night, even if my photo was taken midday during winter. The wings are obviously inspired by the song lyrics, but I actually originally thought that they might be somewhere on the bike, maybe as a decal. Eventually I wanted them to be mine, so I made that happen. Overall, though, it’s mostly just trying to get that summer feeling. – Valentine Lamkin
