Reaction: Moonlight

This collage is in response to the film, Moonlight. It is littered with different quotes from the film that stood out to me as a viewer. On the top, it reads, “In moonlight black boys look blue.” This line inspired the title of the film as well as the theme of my collage. – Linnea Anderson

For my artistic response, I responded to Moonlight, specifically the main character Chiron. I chose to do a watercolor portrait with blues, greens and purples because of the line from the movie, “In moonlight black boys look blue.” It stuck with me because Chiron is so devastatingly lonely that you can’t help but feel heartbroken for him. These colors just further drive that sense of sadness and isolation. – Mary Wamsley

  1. I loved seeing Linnea’s collage and Mary’s watercolor painting AR for the movie. They portrayed the emotions of the theme really well!
