Abstract Line Drawings

Students have been experimenting with lines, shapes and textures to create graphic art in Sean Cain’s intermediate art class. For these graphic design projects, the artists used basic shapes in an abstract way to express ideas. Students first created 16 “thumbnails” (small 1”x1” sketches), then picked the three best ones to elaborate on. From those elaborations they created one, comprehensive final. The final pieces shown below were done exclusively in black and white, using ink, sharpies and acrylic paint on white paper.
