Responding to Literature

Seniors in Jada Pierce’s English class responded artistically to a variety of texts from throughout the quarter, using mediums from painting to beaded jewelry. The projects covered a wide variety of media, from the poetry collection The Perseverance by Deaf poet Raymond Antrobus, which discusses themes of race, identity, and ability, to Zadie Smith’s essay “Joy,” which makes a distinction between all the various types of happiness in our daily lives.
